New Requirements When Renewing Your MA Real Estate License

2/17/2023

Changes have arrived for Massachusetts Real Estate License Renewals!

The Massachusetts Board of Registration of Real Estate Brokers and Salespersons has recently updated the requirements when renewing your real estate license.

When renewing, all salespeople and brokers (with the exception of Attorney Brokers) will be required to list the CE classes that you are using for your renewal. You will not be required to upload or send in certificates. Required information includes:

  • School Attended
  • Name of Course
  • Date Course Completed
  • Number of Hours for Each Course
  • Brokers will also need to upload surety bond information

As you select courses for your license renewal, keep in mind that MA law requires your courses to be from different course categories: “The curriculum contained in such courses or programs shall contain at least six hours of instruction concerning or related to compliance with laws and regulations selected from any of the following subjects: fair housing; equal employment opportunity; accessibility for the disabled; agency law; environmental issues in real estate; zoning and building codes; real estate appraisal and financing; property tax assessments and valuation; and real estate board regulations.” Source: https://malegislature.gov/laws/generallaws/parti/titlexvi/chapter112/section87xx1~2
