MAR Associate Counsel, Kate Berard, will provide critical insights into recent legal cases, how they may impact your business, and what you can put into practice now to prepare for these changes. Kate will discuss implementation of Buyer Representation Agreements, contract addendums and how to have legally compliant conversations with customers, clients, and other real estate professionals.

About Our Speaker: Kate Berard, Esq.

Kate Berard is the Director of Professional Standards and Associate Counsel at the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR).  In that role, Kate manages MAR’s Professional Standards Program which consists of Ethics and Arbitration Hearings and Mediations. In addition, Kate advises members on all aspects of real estate transactions and brokerage management, including new and trending legal issues and risk management.

Prior to joining MAR, Kate practiced real estate law and general civil litigation focused on the areas of residential conveyance, commercial leasing, landlord-tenant, and contractual disputes. While not currently active in real estate sales, Kate holds her Real Estate Broker’s license and REALTOR® membership. Kate also proudly serves as a town councilwoman in Barrington, Rhode Island. 

Kate received her J.D. from New England School of Law, her M.Ed. from Rutgers Graduate School of Education, and her B.A. from Rutgers University
